Are you a Psychology graduate eager to gain practical experience supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?
A Secondary SEN School in Newbury is seeking a dedicated, patient, and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join their team. This role is ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Counsellors, Therapists, Mental Health Professionals, Youth Workers, or Teachers.
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students experiencing a range of emotional and mental health needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and provide consistent emotional and pastoral support.
- Help students develop confidence, resilience, self-esteem, self-regulation, and independence.
- Support students in managing difficult emotions, anxiety, stress, and challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies.
- Encourage positive coping mechanisms and help students develop healthy ways of managing their emotions.
We're looking for a Mental Health Support Worker who is:
- Compassionate, patient, resilient, and enthusiastic about supporting young people.
- Confident communicating with students who may experience emotional or mental health difficulties.
- Calm, consistent, and supportive when responding to challenging situations.
- Passionate about supporting young people's mental health and wellbeing.
- Interested in gaining practical experience before pursuing a career in psychology, education, therapy, youth work, or mental health.
- Location: Newbury
- Setting: SEN School
- Start Date: ASAP
- Pay: £93-£110 per day
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
- Contract: Full-time
