Are you considering a future career in Psychology, Counselling, Therapy, Teaching or Youth Work?
A supportive specialist provision in Wiltshire is seeking a caring and resilient Mental Health Assistant to join their team on a full-time temporary basis, with potential for the role to become permanent.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a Mental Health Assistant to gain hands-on experience supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs within a nurturing and structured educational environment.
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
- Help pupils manage emotions, anxiety and positive behaviour.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Support learning while encouraging confidence, resilience and independence.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and specialist professionals.
A Mental Health Assistant would suit a Psychology or Criminology Graduate, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or someone with relevant personal or professional experience. Previous experience working with children or young people is beneficial but not essential- empathy, resilience, a positive attitude and a genuine commitment to supporting young people are equally important.
Being a Mental Health Assistant will give the opportunity to develop understanding of mental health, behaviour, emotional regulation and additional needs, while gaining valuable experience within a specialist educational setting. The skills developed as a Mental Health Assistant could provide a strong foundation for future training or careers in Psychology, Counselling, Therapy, Teaching or Youth Work.
