Mental Health Assistant - Reading Are you a Psychology graduate eager to gain practical experience supporting young people with their mental health and wellbeing? A Secondary SEN School in Reading is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and resilient Mental Health Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Counsellors, Therapists, or Mental Health Professionals. As a Mental Health Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to students experiencing emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges.Support students in developing emotional regulation, resilience, confidence, and positive coping strategies.Build trusting and supportive relationships with students, helping them feel safe, understood, and valued.Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment. We're looking for a Mental Health Assistant who is:

Compassionate, patient, empathetic, and genuinely passionate about supporting young people.A confident communicator who can build strong, positive relationships with students.Interested in gaining practical experience before pursuing a career in psychology, mental health, therapy, or education.Calm, resilient, and able to respond appropriately to challenging situations.
