A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Newbury is looking for a caring and motivated Mental Health Assistant to join its specialist support team, working with pupils with a range of SEN and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Assistant to gain practical experience within a school environment while working alongside experienced teachers, SEN professionals and specialist support staff.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you'll support pupils across the primary age range who may experience:

You'll help pupils understand and manage their emotions, build confidence, develop positive relationships and engage more successfully with school life.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced education and SEN professionals, gaining exposure to supportive, therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches within a school setting.

You'll develop practical experience and a deeper understanding of how emotional wellbeing can influence behaviour, relationships and learning.

With ongoing guidance, training and mentorship, this role offers valuable preparation for a Mental Health Assistant looking to progress towards a career in psychology, therapy, teaching, youth work or social care.
