The role includes processing referrals, managing clinical correspondence, liaising with hospitals and other healthcare services, dealing with referral-related queries and providing general secretarial support to the clinical team. The postholder will also help monitor outstanding referrals, maintain accurate patient records and ensure urgent correspondence is dealt with promptly.
Willerby & Swanland Surgery provides primary care services to approximately 11,000 patients across our local community.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced administrator or secretary looking to develop their career within general practice.
We welcome applications from candidates with previous NHS or primary care experience, but we are equally interested in applicants with strong transferable administrative and secretarial skills who are enthusiastic about developing within the role.
Full training and support will be provided as appropriate.
Willerby & Swanland Surgery is a well-established GP practice providing primary care services to approximately 11,000 patients across Willerby, Swanland and the surrounding areas.

The practice works closely with our Primary Care Network and other local health and community services to support the needs of our patient population.

- Experience of managing a varied workload and working to deadlines.
- Experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
Desirable
- Previous experience within a GP practice, NHS or healthcare environment.
- Previous medical secretarial experience.
- Experience of processing referrals.
- Experience of NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS)
- Experience of SystmOne.
Knowledge and Skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills with good attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Confident and professional telephone manner
- Good level of accuracy when processing information
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection

- Knowledge of medical terminology

Qualifications

- Good standard of general education, including English
- Good IT skills and confidence using computer-based systems
