We are seeking to appoint a Medical Secretary for the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department in Care Group 3 for 22.5 hours per week over 3 days, fixed t...
- The Production of patient/client information letters via audio typing to assist Health Care Professionals in the day to day management of patient care
- Working to deadlines
- Communicating well with staff of all grades and disciplines
- Accurately record and complete patient information maintaining confidentiality at all times
- Undertaking audio transcription, including medical terminology
- Responsible for making appointments as necessary
- Liaising between Trust staff and outside agencies as required
- Organise meetings as necessary, take and transcribe minutes
- Receiving and dealing with telephone and e-mails in a timely and professional manner

Experience
Essential: - Previous medical secretarial/administration experience; - Audio typing - previous experience and / or qualification
Desirable
- Previous office experience within a healthcare environment
- Microsoft Office - previous experience and / or qualification
- Previous use of databases, ie Meditech
Knowledge
Essential: - Knowledge of medical terminology, ideally within Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Desirable: - Awareness of NHS Policies, practices and procedures; - Awareness of the Data Protection Act and understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality
Qualifications
Essential: - RSA Word Processing / OCR Word Processing qualification, or NVQ 3 equivalent; - 3 GCSEs grade C/4 or equivalent education to include English language
Desirable: - ECDL or equivalent general IT qualification
