  • To provide high quality reception and administrative support to patients and staff alike.
  • act as first point of contact to both patients and other visitors.
  • checking in patients
  • answering the phone and dealing with queries
  • prescription ordering
  • scanning of post
  • referrals to other services
  • coding onto patient records
  • daily post
  • maintaining accurate patient records
  • registration of new patients, temporary and permanent
  • liaise with other services in the community
  • triage of urgent appointments, ensuring that the patient is seen by the most appropriate clinician
  • ensure that bloods / specimens are correctly bagged and given to the courier

To ensure success, you should be a confident and professional administrator with fantastic communication and interpersonal skills that will contribute to the efficient day-to-day administration of the healthcare facility. You will work comfortably under pressure while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment and can effectively react to patient emergencies. You will need to have excellent organisational and administrative skills. Medical Receptionists are expected to be compassionate and discrete with superb time management and record keeping skills.

IJ Healthcare consists of 2 practices; 1 in Winlaton and 1 in Ryton

Over the 2 premises, the forward thinking team consists of:

  • 1 GP partner
  • 2 Salaried GP's
  • 1 Sessional Locum GP
  • 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner
  • 1 Practice Manager
  • 1 finance officer
  • 1 Practice Nurse
  • 1 Healthcare Assistants
  • 1 Medical Secretary
  • 8 receptionists
  • we also have additional role staff consisting off a practice pharmacist, Physiotherapist, care coordinator and a mental health worker.

We all work together. There is flexibility and the chance to work across both practices although this post will primarily be based at Hollyhurst Medical Centre. Full training and supervision will be given. Training and development are encouraged within the practice. Annual appraisals and constant reviewing ensures that everyone on the team is working to their optimised level. Quarterly team meetings and sharing of best practice make the running of the 2 surgeries a full team effort.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE Grade A to D in Maths and English

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience working within a healthcare environment is preferable as is knowledge of EMIS and medical terminology, although full training will be given. Excellent documentation, communication and IT skills.

Desirable

  • UK driving licence is desirable but not essential as you may be required to travel between sites.
