To work within our Reception Team. This will involve dealing with patients face to face and on the phone, but also providing a back office role to include prescriptions and dealing with tasks from our clincians.
The
following are the core responsibilities of the Medical Receptionist. There
may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be
dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a.
Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment
system
b.
Process personal, telephone and e-requests for
appointments
c.
Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or
dealing with the callers request appropriately
d.
Signpost patients to the correct service
e.
Process requests coming through SystmConnect, navigate as
necessary
f.
Manage prescription requests, ensuring they are processed
accurately and efficiently
g.
Process new patient registrations
h.
Accurately clinically coding data on SystmOne into the
patient record
i.
Carrying out system searches as requested
j.
Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from
patients, team members and external agencies
k.
Photocopy documentation as required
l.
Data entry of new and temporary registrations and
relevant patient information as required
m.
Input data into the patients healthcare records as
necessary
n.
Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance /
solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
o.
Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
p.
Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all
times
q.
Support all clinical staff with general tasks as
requested
r.
Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance
with the duty rota
Abbey Medical Practice boasts a very friendly working environment, with a strong work ethic across all teams. We have a team of five GPs, supported by our multi-skilled nursing team. We are a training practice so support foundation year doctors and GP trainees.-
