The Maintenance Operative role at Avery Healthcare involves ensuring that the building and grounds are well-maintained. It includes carrying out routine maintenance tasks, performing basic fixes on equipment and systems, and ensuring that the facilities are fully functional. The role also involves performing general maintenance tasks and basic repairs, including electrical, plumbing, joinery, and building tasks inside and outside the home. Additionally, the Maintenance Operative supports new residents to arrange their rooms as they wish and ensures routine re-decoration is undertaken to maintain the homes standards. The successful candidate will advise on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring the timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods. Part of the role involves providing an out of hours emergency service and participating in the on-call rota. Your focus as a Maintenance Operativewillbetoensurethe building and grounds are wellmaintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services applying basic fixes to equipment and systemswhilstensuringfacilities are fully functional.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude

  • Carryingout all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs includingall electrical, plumbing joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the Home.
  • Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
  • Ensuringroutine re-decoration is undertaken asrequiredtomaintainthe standards in thehome.
  • Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
  • Providingout of hours emergency service,participatingin the on-call rota.

Our ideal candidatemust

  • Have a minimum of one years experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade.
  • Hold a full driving licence.
  • Have knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
  • Be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
