The overall purpose of the Lung Cancer Screening is to enable the early detection of lung cancer in order to save lives. Coventry & Warwickshire Healt...
- Reviewing and analysing of scan results and following up appropriate action, as well as participating weekly Screening Review Meetings.
- Provide specialist lung cancer screening nursing advice to patients, carers, internal services and external stakeholders.
- Undertake or review comprehensive lung health checks risk assessments and provide specialist lung cancer screening nursing advice to the Patient Care advisors team.
- Assess patients' eligibility and suitability to proceed to a diagnostic test, based on the principles of informed consent, mental capacity and submit the diagnostic test referral form.
A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle is essential for this role. Please note that an international driving license is not accepted.
Secondment will be considered for internal candidates - If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.

Qualifications
Essential
- Current Professional NMC Registration
- Evidence of relevant CPD
- Evidence of relevant post qualification study at postgraduate level or equivalent knowledge
- Study at level 6 (Degree/Diploma)
Desirable
- Leadership qualification or completion of leadership course
- Teaching /mentoring qualification
- GCP Training
- Consent Training
- IRMER qualification
Experience
Essential
- Professional clinical experience in working in acute or community settings across Coventry and Warwickshire.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to successfully manage people and change
- Experience of conflict management
- Participation in audits
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/interdisciplinary team and follow up actions from screening review meeting.
- Registered Nurse with significant band 5 experience
Desirable
- Experience in working in Lung Cancer Screening or other Screening services.
- Experience working as a band 6
- Advance communication skills course
- Experience of writing / producing patient information
- Health assessment
- A good understanding of HR policy
Knowledge
Essential
- A knowledgeable clinician with the ability to apply evidence-based practice
- An understanding of current issues relating to the NHS and cancer care
- A knowledge of professional policies and procedures
- Awareness of relevant national and local targets
- Detailed knowledge of the LCS protocol, quality standards and incidental finding guidance.
Desirable
- Knowledge of peer review process
- Clinical knowledge of respiratory illness
