- Deliver a comprehensive ENT service, including Rhinology and general ENT care.
- Undertake outpatient clinics, elective and emergency surgery, and patient management.
- Participate in the Consultant on-call rota (1 in 6).
- Provide clinical advice and support to junior staff, GPs, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Lead and contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement.
- Support teaching, supervision, and training of junior doctors and students.
- Engage in service development, business planning, and innovation initiatives

Education & Qualifications
Essential
- MBBS
- Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
- Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent
- Proof of competency in emergency and elective index cases
Desirable
- Advanced Training in specialist aspects of Otorhinolaryngology
- Other relevant postgraduate qualification
- Entry on the GMC specialist register via relevant CCT relevant CESR or European Community Rights
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
- High level of clinical experience and competence in Otorhinolaryngology
- Completed Higher Specialist Training (CCT) in Otorhinolaryngology or evidence of equivalent competency.
- A special interest to complement that of the existing post holders
- A commitment to, and experience of teaching
- Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, managers and other staff
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
Desirable
- An interest in developing links with Primary Care
- Experience of working in a District General hospital
- Advanced fellowship (or equivalent) in subspeciality
Management & Organisation skills
Essential
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to advice on efficient and smooth running of their chosen subspecialty service.
- Ability to work flexible and as part of the team
- Ability to effectively organise and manage clinical workload
Desirable: - Experience of audit management; - Knowledge of NICE guidelines
Teaching
Essential
- Experience of and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
- Understanding of training pathway in Otorhinolaryngology including use of ISCP
Desirable: - Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates; - Teaching of non medical health professionals.; - Educational Qualification
Research, Audit and Clinical Governance
Essential
- Experience of, and commitment to, medical audit.
- Previous publication sin clinical research relevant to the post.
- Governance and audit lead in previous roles and/or able to demonstrate this.
Desirable: - Ability to supervise postgraduate research; - Peer reviewed funding, principle investigator role.
Communication skills and abilities
Essential
- Empathetic and sensitive approach to patient needs
- Approachable and effective multi disciplinary team member with excellent interpersonal skills
- Good person and interpersonal skills
- Positive approach to lessons learnt
- Confident approach without being arrogant
Desirable: - IT Skills; - Experience with patient group communication and lectures; - Experience with advice and guidance to GPs and to community optometrists.
Continued Professional / Personal Development
Essential
- Demonstrable evidence of lifelong learning.
- Reflective approach to personal development with an ability to acknowledge and effectively manage poor performance.
- Participation in appropriate peer review processes.
Desirable: - Presented at conferences representing the organisation
