Job description
Are you looking for a career where you can make a positive difference to people living with HIV? Do you believe you have the management and leadership...
Alongside a variety of responsibilities, you will provide direct patient care to patients living with HIV and collaboratively work with the Consultant to lead and shape the HIV service.
You will need strong interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to quickly build relationships with the team and business partners across the organisation, providing prompt responses to issues raised within the service. You will provide direct line management support to team members and co-ordinate the review of very late diagnosis audit.
If you think you have the qualities to make a difference, please apply or get in contact with us to learn more.
The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.
- To be responsible for the operational development, improvement and management of the HIV service, including co-ordination of cover for the 24 / 7 Consultant on call rota, to ensure the highest standards of patient care and services being delivered in an efficient and effective way within the allocated budget.
- Participation in NHSE commissioning processes with specialist knowledge as HIV lead nurse.
- Completion of National HIV Nurses Association (NHIVNA) competencies to ensure full range of HIV related care can be provided autonomously.
- Lead the reduction of late diagnosis by promoting testing in primary care and acutesettings and carrying out reviews of significant incidents when patients are diagnosed late with HIV to identify missed opportunities.
- Contribute and co-ordinate research where required, following Trust protocols and ensure that the research has had ethical approval. You will be expected to ensure that patients receive the information they need and are treated with dignity and respect for their privacy.
- Contribute to the effective financial management of the service by ensuring effective use of recourses and equipment and hold budget manager responsibilities.
- To deputise for the service manager as and when required.
We have a skilled and dedicated workforce of over 5000 colleagues working in a diverse range of services over 55 sites and within people's homes. We strive to enable a welcoming workplace culture that builds and celebrates civility, inclusivity and diversity, while providing a sense of belonging and trust.
Annual staff surveys, regular Pulse surveys and other engagement opportunities provide our people with lots of opportunity to tell us about their experiences of working with us. In the latest staff survey, 61% of colleagues gave us their views. It was great to hear that:
- 72% of colleagues would recommend the Trust as a place to work, ranking us 1st for Provider Trusts in the South West region on this question.
- 76% would recommend the standard of care provided in our services if a friend or relative needed treatment, also ranking us 1st in the South West region.
- 81% said that care of patients and service users is the Trust's priority, compared with an average in comparable NHS Trusts in England of 64%.
This high-level overview shows we are in a healthy position, with higher scores than average for comparable organisations, alongside a great response rate, indicating good staff engagement. However, we also know we have plenty of room for improvement in many areas. To that end, we continue to prioritise and invest in our commitment to genuinely becoming a Great Place to Work with consistent top-quartile performance in the annual staff survey and Pulse surveys.
