- Lead and inspire the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team, championing excellence in patient safety and infection prevention.
- Support the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) in delivering the Trust's IPC strategy, policy development and priorities.
- Provide expert advice and leadership on infection prevention, outbreaks and emerging risks.
- Lead infection surveillance, using data and insight to drive quality improvement and safer care.
- Promote a culture of learning through the delivery of IPC education, training and awareness programmes.
- Provide assurance through audit, monitoring and compliance activities, supporting continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and operational teams to embed best practice across the organisation.
- Drive innovation, research and evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse with up to date NMC registration
- Specialist Practitioner qualification in infection control, including skills and competency gained through experience
- Masters degree in infection control or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, employment or voluntary work

- Teaching qualification
- Management qualification
Experience
Essential
- Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a wide range of approaches to the management of patients, demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning
- Advanced expert level of knowledge of specialist areas of nursing
- Demonstrable understanding of the role of specialist areas within the current health environment and the impact of current government/regional policy developments
- Robust understanding of all aspects of clinical governance including previous experience of quality issues, audit and risk management
- Knowledge of wider NHS nursing policies and agenda
- Understanding of national guidance and reports in relation to infection control
- Understanding of national mandatory surveillance requirements
Skills and Ability
Essential
- Leadership , change management and people management skills
- Project management skills
- Good IT skills including Excel and development of software packages to facilitate management and prevention of infection
- Able to drive and have use of a car
