To assist with the daily running of the kitchen, maintaining high levels of cleanliness, safety and hygiene of the kitchen and equipment.
To wash dishes, cutlery and food preparation equipment.
Supporting the chefs in the day to day running of the kitchen
Assisting the chefs with ingredient preparation
Simple Food preparation such as salads and sandwiches.
Keep the wash area clean and tidy throughout your shift
Liaise with your colleagues in front of house
Carry out other duties as reasonably requested by chefs and Head chef
Disposal of rubbish
Sweeping & mopping floors as well as cleaning down kitchen area and Orangery Cafe
£12.71 per hour
21 hours per week (average)Alternate weeks of 3 and 4 days, 6-hour shifts, including alternate weekends
Are you a hardworking and reliable team player who enjoys working in a busy kitchen environment? We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Kitchen Porterto join our team and help deliver a high-quality dining experience for our patients and visitors to the Orangery Cafe
This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside experienced chefs in a supportive and welcoming kitchen. Previous kitchen or catering experience is preferred, but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right person.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting the chefs with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Assisting with basic food preparation, including salads and sandwiches.
- Washing dishes, cutlery, and kitchen equipment.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.
- Keeping the wash-up area clean and organised throughout your shift.
- Cleaning kitchen areas, including sweeping and mopping floors.
- Disposing of waste safely and responsibly.
- Working closely with front-of-house colleagues to ensure a smooth service.
- Carrying out other reasonable duties as requested by the Chef or Head Chef.

- Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or food service environment is preferred.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
