We have a busy 24 bed critical care unit that cares for 1600 patients per year. We take medical and surgical emergency patients and postoperative elective patients requiring a higher level of care. There is excellent opportunity to gain experience in caring for critically ill patients and the practical techniques pertinent to this.

Whilst a non-training grade you would be considered as a trainee with appropriate teaching and educational support, supervision is available at all times from senior trainees and Consultants. You would be part of the ICU B rota. You will be expected to take part in formal handover, audit/ QI and lunchtime trainee presentations.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GMC
  • MBChB or equivalent
  • Advanced life support

Desirable

  • APLS
  • ATLS

Experience

Essential

  • Completion of Foundation Training or equivalent
  • Experience of audit or QI
  • Previous experience within the NHS

Desirable

  • Core Anaesthesia/ ACCS/ Emergency Medicine/ IMT/ Core Surgical experience

Skills

Essential

  • Flexibility in working hours to meet the requirements of the post
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Good communication skills
