The Infant Feeding Support Worker is a key member of the multidisciplinary team; with their specialist knowledge they will support midwives in providing an insightful family-centred service based on current evidence and research. The Infant Feeding Support Worker will provide evidence-based knowledge and information for all aspects on infant feeding, and act as a resource and support for mothers in the initiation, establishment and development (maintenance) of breast feeding. The Infant Feeding Support Worker will actively seek the views of women and their families on the understanding of their care needs in relation to infant feeding and building a relationship with their new baby. The Infant Feeding Support Worker will assist the Infant Feeding Lead, Registered Midwives and other members of the multidisciplinary team in implementing care plans to support infant feeding. The infant feeding support worker may also be required to undertake some clerical, clinical and domestic duties to ensure a safe environment.
Providing practical and emotional support to women and families with infant feeding, in line with individual feeding choices and plans Supporting breastfeeding, expressing, formula feeding, and responsive feeding practices in accordance with Trust guidelines Promoting positive infantfeeding experiences and supporting bonding and attachment between parents and babies Reinforcing infantfeeding information and care plans agreed by registered professionals Identifying and reporting any concerns or deviations from expected progress to the midwife or registered professional promptly Maintaining accurate documentation of care provided in line with Trust policy and professional standards

Qualifications
Essential: - Good Basic Education to GCSE Level or equivalent; - NVQ Level 3 in Care, or equivalent appropriate experience.
Desirable: - Completion of BFI course or similar.
