Job Type: Housing Support Worker Contract: Temporary with the potential to become permanent
We are currently recruiting for a Housing Support Worker to join a supported housing service in Leeds. This is a temporary, full-time opportunity with the potential to become permanent for the right person. The service supports adults living in social housing who may be experiencing issues with drug and alcohol misuse, alongside other challenges that can affect their ability to maintain stable accommodation and live independently.
The Role As a Housing Support Worker, you will provide practical and emotional support to residents, helping them maintain their accommodation, develop independent living skills and access appropriate support services. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing one-to-one support to residents within a supported housing environmentBuilding positive, professional relationships with residentsSupporting individuals experiencing drug and/or alcohol misuseHelping residents maintain their tenancy and accommodationIdentifying and responding appropriately to safeguarding concernsSupporting residents to access health, welfare and specialist support servicesEncouraging independent living and positive lifestyle choicesHelping residents work towards individual support plans and personal goalsMaintaining accurate and confidential recordsLiaising with external agencies and support providers where requiredPromoting a safe, respectful and supportive environment for all residents
About You We are looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient and confident working with vulnerable adults. You will ideally have:
Previous experience in a Housing Support Worker, Support Worker, Hostel Worker, Recovery Worker, Outreach Worker or similar roleExperience supporting people affected by drug and/or alcohol misuseAn understanding of safeguarding and professional boundariesGood communication and interpersonal skillsThe ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situationsA genuine commitment to helping people improve their circumstancesThe ability to work independently as well as part of a wider support team
