Hospital Account Manager - Specialist Pharmaceuticals - Greater London (Hybrid)
Walker Cole International is supporting a growing, MHRA-licensed specialist pharmaceutical business in the appointment of a Hospital Account Manager. The business supplies licensed and unlicensed medicines to hospitals and healthcare providers across the UK, including hard-to-source products during periods of shortage. This is a commercially focused role in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where your work has a direct impact on patient care.
You will manage and grow a portfolio of secondary-care accounts, acting as the trusted point of contact for hospital pharmacy and procurement teams. Working closely with the internal procurement and trading teams, you will make sure customers can rely on accurate availability, competitive pricing and fast resolution when supply is under pressure.
Success in the role depends on strong relationships, commercial awareness and the ability to turn market intelligence into revenue, particularly where supply shortages create opportunities to support customers.
- Manage and develop a portfolio of NHS and private hospital accounts across the UK
- Build strong relationships with chief pharmacists, pharmacy buyers and procurement leads
- Grow revenue and margin through account planning, cross-selling and new product introductions
- Respond quickly to customer requests for shortage, specials and unlicensed products
- Partner with procurement and trading teams on stock availability, lead times and pricing
- Track market trends, competitor activity and emerging shortages, feeding insight back to the business
- Support tender and framework activity where relevant
- Maintain accurate customer records, forecasts and sales reporting
- Account management or sales experience in pharmaceutical wholesale, distribution or specialist supply
- Understanding of hospital pharmacy and the NHS secondary-care supply chain
- Knowledge of licensed and unlicensed medicines, ideally including specials or imports
- Proven track record of growing accounts and hitting revenue targets
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with confidence using data to support decisions
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Organised and proactive, able to manage many customers and priorities at pace
