Job description

Healthcare Support Worker – Complex Care

Employer: Superior Healthcare

Location: Local community (home-based care)

Superior Healthcare is recruiting Healthcare Support Workers to support a young client with complex care needs in her family home.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide person-centred care to a client who thrives on engagement, routine, and meaningful interaction. She benefits from carers who are warm, confident, and energetic, and who can build a trusting, supportive relationship.

She enjoys a wide range of activities including arts and crafts, reading, and music (especially Foo Fighters!). She is non-verbal but communicates effectively through lip reading and Makaton, and will often guide her care team on what activities she would like to do — so carers should be happy to follow her lead and fully engage.

She also lives with a small, elderly dog, so being comfortable around pets is important.

  • Providing high-quality, person-centred care
  • Supporting communication using lip reading and Makaton
  • Encouraging and participating in activities such as arts, crafts, and reading
  • Promoting independence, choice, and emotional wellbeing
  • Responding to communication cues and building rapport
  • Supporting clinical needs (including tracheostomy care if trained)

Client Preferences

  • Female carers
  • High energy, engaging, and positive attitude
  • Comfortable taking direction from the client and participating in activities
  • Calm, level-headed, and switched on

Shift Pattern

  • Saturday night shift 18:45-7am – £16.50 per hour
  • Sunday night shift 18:45-7am – £17.60 per hour

  • Competitive hourly rates
  • Paid induction and ongoing clinical training
  • Opportunity to develop specialist skills, including tracheostomy care (training provided)
  • Opportunity to work towards an NVQ/Diploma
  • Holiday pay and pension
  • Blue Light Card (funded)
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Menopause support
  • Referral rewards
  • Ongoing support from nurses and supervisors

  • Previous care experience essential
  • Drivers preferred
  • Experience with tracheostomy care desirable (full training provided)
  • Confident, engaging, and emotionally intelligent approach
  • Comfortable working in a family home with pets

Checks Required

  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Three years’ continuous referencing
