Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and recording findings accurately
- support annual reviews checks for chronic diseases e.g hypertension, diabetes, asthma etc
- Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring
- Carry out ECGs
- Carry out BMI checks and provide weight management advice
- Administer Blood Tests
- Carry out Spirometry tests
- Intramuscular injections under PSD
- Undertake wound care and carry out simple dressings
- Removal of sutures
- Undertake NHS Health Check
- Processing of samples e.g. urine
- Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
- Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
- Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording including weekly data loggers
- Medical equipment and vaccine ordering, stocking control and rotation
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations, coil fits and contraceptive implant fitting
- Act as a chaperone as required
- Participating in administrative tasks to support the practice in meeting QOF targets
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Practice Nurse or Practice Business Manager.

- Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect own work
- Participate in audit where appropriate
Qualifications
Essential
- Healthcare qualification (or working towards)
- Phlebotomy certificate
- ECG training
- Immunisation and vaccination
Desirable
- Spirometry
- Wound care
- Chronic disease management
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in a primary healthcare setting
- Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development activity to maintain up to date knowledge and on-going competence
- Evidence of working autonomously and as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience of working with General Practice
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Understanding and knowledge of policy related to delivery of Primary Care including the PMS contract, Clinical Governance and Quality and Outcomes Framework
- Understanding the health needs of Primary Care
- Understanding of equal opportunity and diversity issues
- Well-developed IT skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Time management and ability to prioritise workload
Desirable
- Experience of SystmOne
