Healthcare Assistant

Duties are varied and include general nursing tasks such as assisting in dressing clinics, chaperoning, urine analysis, ECGs and BP readings and taking blood as well as ordering medical supplies and re-stocking consulting rooms. You will also assist in the assessment and monitoring of patient health and help raise awareness of health and well-being

and bmi

24 hour blood pressure

& 24 hour ECG application

Capillary blood testing

Urinalysis

Measurement of blood

pressure

ECG recording

Venepuncture

Diabetic screening

Diabetic foot check

Health Checks

Health promotion advice as

appropriate

Restock consulting room

Further skills with

changes in patients recordings and report appropriately

patients to access the appropriate professionals in the practice team

the principles of healthy living and provide dietary advice

relevant health promotion literature

infection control standards

patients in appropriate techniques/tasks after appropriate training.

perform other clinical tasks as trained and agreed to meet the needs of

the practice

engage in audit, and invite patients for necessary investigations/checks.

The job holder must work as part of a team, have the ability to organise

and prioritize own workload on a day to day basis and observe strict rules

about patient confidentiality at all times. The job holder must know when to

seek direction from the Practice Nurse, Doctor, or Practice Manager.

Qualifications

Essential: - GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths,; - Qualification in Health and Social Care or a KaSPAC or STEPS certificate

Desirable: - Experience in Ophthalmology,; - Previous experience in Primary Care,; - A Care Certificate
