We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated GP with an Extended Role (GPwER) in Breast Surgery to join the existing Breast Team for 3 sessions per we...
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering family history clinics, supporting the development of a breast pain pathway, assisting with triple assessment clinics for urgent suspected cancer referrals, and contributing to referral triage and pathway optimisation. We are looking for a compassionate, patient-focused and team-orientated individual with excellent communication skills, sound clinical judgement and an enthusiasm for service improvement and collaborative multidisciplinary working.
- Deliver dedicated Family History Breast Clinics, including: - Comprehensive family history assessment
- Risk stratification using agreed regional/national guidance
- Appropriate onward referral for genetic counselling and surveillance pathways
- Patient counselling and reassurance
- Support and develop the Breast Pain Pathway, helping to: - Provide timely assessment and reassurance for low-risk patients
- Reduce unnecessary 2WW referrals
- Improve patient experience and pathway efficiency
- Promote evidence-based management strategies
- Participate in Triple Assessment Breast Clinics for urgent suspected cancer referrals under consultant supervision and agreed governance arrangements, including: - Clinical breast examination
- Interpretation and discussion of imaging findings
- Supporting patient communication and documentation
- Coordinating onward investigations and follow-up
- Assist with triage of breast referrals, including: - Prioritisation of urgent referrals
- Redirecting inappropriate referrals to alternative pathways where appropriate
- Supporting pathway navigation and clinic utilisation

Qualifications and experience
Essential
- Qualified GP with full GMC registration
- On NHS England's National Performers List for GPs
- Certificate of postgraduate general practice training
- Experience of delivering GMS/PMS services
- Evidnce of basic life support (within last 12 months), safeguarding children and safeguarding adults (within last 3 months)
Desirable
- Worked as GP principal or salaried within the ICBs served by the service
- Previous experience working within a breast service or symptomatic breast clinic
- Understanding of local pathways and services available
- Experience of supporting ambulatory or rapid assessment clinics
- Experience of family history assessment and risk stratification
