Main Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Access, diagnose, treat and appropriately manage patients in accordance with current clinical guidelines and best practice.
  • Conduct face -to -face consultations, Accurx and telephone consultations.
  • Undertake home visits when clinically necessary and in accordance with practice arrangements.
  • Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with local and national guidelines.
  • Review test results, correspondence and other clinical information requiring GP action.
  • Provide health promotion, disease prevention and lifestyle advice to patients.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns involving children and adults.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, practice nurses, health care assistants, administrative staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain registration and license to practice with the GMC.

  • Provide comprehensive general medical services to registered patients.
  • Undertake face-to-face, telephone and Accurx consultations.
  • Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Develop and implement appropriate treatment and management plans.
  • Provide appropriate follow up and continuity of care.
  • Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with current guidelines.
  • Arrange investigations, referrals and follow up where clinically indicated.
  • Review and action laboratory results results, clinical correspondence and investigation reports.
  • Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate.
  • Participate in the practice clinical and appointment system.
  • Provide appropriate health promotion and preventative healthcare advice.
  • Recognise and appropriately manage safeguarding concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records.
  • Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain professional competence through continual professional development.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with information governance requirement

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualifications and Registration
  • Full registration with the GMC and a license to practice.
  • MRCGP or equivalent recognised GP qualification.
  • Broad experience in general practice and primary care.
  • Ability to access, diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Competent in prescribing and medicine management.

Desirable

  • Additional postgraduate qualifications relevant to general practice.
  • Experience working within a rural or remote primary care setting.
  • Welsh speaker but not essential.

Experience

Essential

  • Ability to work confidently in a rural primary care setting.
  • Adaptable and able to work effectively with the resources and services available within a rural community.

Desirable: - Experience of working in Primary Care.; - Experience working in a GP surgery.
