This is a position for newly qualified GPs to

work in Hillingdon. The

post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs

in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all

registered and temporary patients.

This post will require you to travel to The Pembroke Centre in Ruislip / The Civic Centre in Ruislip.

In accordance with the service timetable, as

agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety

of duties including surgery consultations, telephone/video consultations and

queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions

and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in

relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other

health care workers within the practice or external organisations.

Assessing the health needs of patients with

undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

-

Screening patients for disease risk factors and

early signs of illness.

-

Contributing to QOF requirements and recording

data appropriately.

-

Contributing to service requirements and recording

data appropriately.

-

In consultation with patients and in line with

current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health-related

illnesses.

-

Screening patients for health education.

-

Admitting and discharging patients to and from the

caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.

-

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation

notes to agreed standards.

-

Collecting data for audit purposes and

contributing to the practice audit programme as required.

-

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and

repeat prescriptions using ESP (avoiding physical or hand-written prescriptions

whenever possible).

Prescribing in accordance with the accepted

prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Take responsibility for some aspects of the

clinical work within the team, for example coordinating aspects of governance,

QOF, enhanced services, CPD and keeping clinical protocols up to date.

In general, the post holder will be expected to

undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP

working within primary care, as set by Royal College of General Practitioners,

General Medical council, all other Royal colleges and councils applicable to

the staff within the practice, Department of Health, Clinical Commissioning

Groups and all other regulatory and standard setting organisations.

Practice and other healthcare providers to deliver its vision for Hillingdon

to deliver the best primary care outcomes for patients in the whole of

London. We are a not for profit community interest company. The

Confederation works to develop and support individual GP practices, PCNs and

Neighbourhoods and their changing needs. We deliver excellent clinical

services ourselves both at scale and complementary to General Practice.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within the NHS, with general public & team working
  • Well developed IT skills and an enthusiasm for new applications and software
  • Good time management and highly organised
  • Ability to use initiative, judgement, resourcefulness, common sense and local knowledge
  • Interest in quality improvement work
  • Able to obtain and analyse complex technical information
  • Recognises priorities when problem solving and identifies deviations from the normal pattern and is able to refer to seniors when appropriate
  • Able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Produce timely and informative reports
  • Gain acceptance for Recommendations and influence/motivate/persuade the audience to comply with the recommendations/agreed course action where there may be significant barriers.
  • Work effectively independently and as a team member
  • Demonstrates accountability for delivering professional expertise and direct service provision

Qualifications

Essential

  • Eligible to work in UK
  • Able to carry out duties with or without premises adaptation
  • GMC registration
  • Other postgraduate qualifications (Minor Surgery, Education, Family planning etc)
