To work under the supervision and direction of the qualified staff in the performance of specific tasks for an individual or group of patients, as part of their treatment and rehabilitation programmes. Such tasks may include; assisting the patients with functional activities of daily living, including dressing/undressing, domestic activities, supervising exercises, preparing patients for treatment, and assisting patients to increase their independence by using daily living aids.
To be able to recognise the need to refer back to the Physiotherapist / Occupational Therapist, identifying contra-indications to treatment and signs of deterioration, and communicate with the Therapists accordingly.
To be able to communicate effectively with patients to gain informed consent to treatment. Assess patient's understanding of treatment proposals, and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
Must maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up to date treatment notes, in line with legal and departmental requirements for each patient.

Education, Training & Qualifications
Essential
- Must be literate - (written and spoken English)
Desirable
- GCSE (or equivalent) English, Maths
- Evidence of recent learning/CPD
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
- Some IT knowledge and skills or the ability and willingness to learn these
- Understanding of Occupational Therapists' and Physiotherapists roles
- Previous experience within a relevant healthcare environment (this could be within the NHS or in a care home setting)
Desirable
- Show an awareness of patient rights
- Experience in a health care in patient setting
- Experience in health care rehabilitation
- Experience of working with people with complex comorbidities
Skills & Ability
Essential
- Must be able to communicate effectively and appropriately at varying levels
- Able to present patient related information, written and orally in a clear and logical manner
- Evidence of working in a team and self motivation
Desirable
- Evidence of dealing with situations under pressure and prioritising and managing time effectively
