This job is for a Gardener at a Barchester care home in Chester, where the main responsibility is to maintain the grounds to the highest standards, creating a stimulating environment that enables delivery of quality, person-centred care. The role involves looking after equipment and structures such as fencing, ensuring the grounds are safe and tidy, including clearing snow and ice in the winter, and planting various flowers, shrubs, and trees. The ideal gardener should have a passion for the outdoors, a patient and empathetic approach, general gardening experience, a good understanding of health and safety, and the ability to use garden treatment chemicals following COSHH regulations. The gardener must be trustworthy, professional, and a great team player with interest in the residents wellbeing. By maintaining our grounds to the highest standards, you'll ensure our home always makes a great first impression, and that our outside areas can be fully enjoyed by residents looking for some fresh air or a change of scenery. Your role as a Gardener will involve looking after our equipment and structures like fencing, keeping our grounds safe and tidy (including clearing any snow and ice in the winter), and planting a range of flowers, shrubs and trees. Once a year, you'll be able to showcase your talents in our fiercely-contested Barchester in Bloom' competition.

ABOUT YOUIf you have a passion for the great outdoors, you could be perfect for the role of Gardener at Barchester. One of your key priorities will be making sure your work fits around the needs of our residents, so a patient and empathetic approach is key. As well as general gardening experience, we'll also need to see a good understanding of health and safety and the ability to use garden treatment chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
