The Functional Bowel Service is expanding and developing its provision across the University Hospitals Tees sites. This is an exciting time to be invo...

Autonomously delivering clinics, taking patient history, examination, requesting appropriate investigations and initiating treatments.

Providing teaching and support to patients requiring trans-anal irrigation, sacral nerve stimulation, ACE management and visual biofeedback.

Preparing and attending the Pelvic Floor MDT's.

Supporting Consultants in Specialist Pelvic Floor Clinic.

Triaging of referrals to ensure patients are seen appropriately and in a timely manner.

Contribute to service development.

Involvement in clinical research trials within the service as they arise.

Providing training and support to new staff, students and other healthcare professionals.

Leadership and Improvement TrainingSouth Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff. This training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the following training sessions:

The leadership and improvement programme aims to

o Explore leadership within the NHSo Promote Trust values and behaviourso Develop your leadership effectiveness and skillso Equip staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead and complete service improvements within the scope of your role.

After you complete these six and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We also offer a range of additional in-house and externally provided courses and bitesize programmes through our Leadership and Improvement Team.

Qualification & Training

Essential

  • NMC Level One Registration
  • First Level degree in Nursing
  • Nurse with substantial clinical knowledge and experience of care management.

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial post-registration experience
  • Have the knowledge and experience to successfully complete the basic qualifications to enable practice in nurse led clinics
  • Have an understanding of patients with pelvic floor and functional bowel conditions
  • Evidence of on-going professional and practice development
  • Experience of collaborative working within the MDT

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Effective analytical and reflective skills
  • Effective advanced communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of relevant NICE guidance
  • Effective people skills
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Keep accurate patient records and ensure patient pathways are co-ordinated and targets are met

  • Personable and amenable
  • Ability to work under pressure/meet tight deadlines whilst delivering high quality work

  • Ability to support patients with psychological distress associated with their bowel disorder
