Job description

Do you have a spare room and live in West Berkshire?

Would you like to make a life-changing difference for a child or young person?

If so, you could become a foster carer and provide a loving and supportive home to children in need.

As a foster carer, you will offer a safe and stable home to children and young people who cannot live with their birth families. You’ll help them grow, thrive, and feel part of a family, all while receiving full support and financial allowances to help you on your journey.

  • Provide day-to-day care and emotional support for the child or young person.
  • Work closely with social workers and other professionals to meet the child’s needs.
  • Attend training sessions and support groups.
  • Maintain records and participate in meetings related to the child's welfare.

  • Generous Financial Support – Foster carers receive a competitive weekly allowance to cover the costs of caring for a child.
  • Extensive Training & Development – A comprehensive training programme, including specialist courses, to support your journey as a foster carer.
  • 24/7 Support – Access to a dedicated Supervising Social Worker and an emergency helpline for round-the-clock advice and assistance.
  • Regular Respite Breaks – The opportunity to take breaks and access respite care when needed.
  • Peer Support Networks – Join a welcoming community of foster carers, support groups, and social events.
  • Additional Benefits & Discounts – Access to exclusive perks, local discounts, and membership in national fostering organisations for added resources and guidance.
  • Therapeutic & Specialist Support – If you care for children with complex needs, additional specialist support and training are available.

  • A spare bedroom in your home, or a rented home
  • A safe, stable, and nurturing environment.
  • Willingness to undergo assessment and training.
