The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the reception team may include any or all of the items in the following lists.
- Provide a welcoming effective and efficient reception service to patients and visitors
- Undertake all reception duties as required
- Support clinicians in emergency situations
- Attend to incoming calls from patients and other callers as required, this is a primary element of the roles
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
- Report all Significant events/ incidents in accordance to local protocols
- Process, acknowledge and complete practice notes (PNs) as per rota, twice a day
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines, electronically and manually
This role requires an experienced receptionists.
This role consists of a38-hour workweek with the following fixed schedule.
- GP Direct has an extended clinic every Monday where the practice is open from 8am to 8pm.You will be required to work from 6.30pm to 8.00pm which usually works work out to be 4 or 5 times a year.
GP Direct is part of Sphere Primary Care Network (PCN) which is a collection of six constituent GP Practices, which all have a strong reputation for our focus on quality improvement and investing in people. - GP Direct is based at two sites in Harrow, key points include:

- A large team of around 30 clinicians and 40 non-clinical staff
- A diverse clinical workforce which includes GPs, nurses, pharmacists, HCAs and an FCP
- Highly skilled and varied admin and reception team of over 40 staff
- Above average QOF and enhanced services achievement year on year
- CQC rating of 'good' overall
- Above average GP Patient Survey results
- Involvement in local and national pilots such as the NHS clinical pharmacists' pilot
- Extensive use of information technology to enhance the patient journey and improve performance
Experience
Essential: - MUST have experience of working within general practice, the NHS or supporting organisations such as 111
Skills
Essential: - Ability to provide quality care Good interpersonal and communication skills Good IT skills
Desirable: - Knowledge of general practice policies and systems
Qualifications
Essential: - GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
Desirable: - Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
