Job description

Do you enjoy working in a busy environment where no two shifts are the same? The Community Minor Injury Units are based in Abingdon on Thames, Witney,...

  • You will be a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with the desire to autonomously assess and treat patients presenting with Minor Injuries and Minor Illness either as walk ins or via 111.
  • You will have excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills along with the ability to lead together with a passion to provide patient centred care.
  • Actively promote, encourage and participate in regular teaching/training sessions to the multi-disciplinary team to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Promote and safeguard the interests and well-being of patients and staff.
  • Maintain self-development, acknowledge training needs and always promote evidence-based practice.
  • Liaise with General Practitioners/Acute Trust in patient specialities regarding patient management whilst on home visits
  • Assess, Diagnose, treat, discharge/refer patients according to the clinical guidelines and PGD's within the base and within the patient's home.
  • To be NMC/HCPC qualified with passion and drive for developing your clinical skills in a changeable environment
  • A keen interest in new and upcoming technologies within Nursing and Healthcare
  • Be self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing initiative and promoting new ideas on how to improve the service
  • Be compassionate, caring and creative with excellent communication skills
  • A flexible and positive attitude with a willingness to accommodate our 24/7 service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse or Registered Paramedic
  • Minor Injury Management Course or willingness to undertake. Minor Illness course or willingness to undertake.
  • Independent prescribing course or PGD training course

Desirable: - Mentor qualification; - ILS training

Professional Practice

Essential

  • Experience as a Band 5 equivalent in Emergency department, Acute setting, Urgent Care/GP practice setting or paramedic experience.
  • Experience with mentoring students
  • Competent in using Evidence Based Practice

Desirable: - Experience working in MDT

Personal qualities

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
