An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Deputy Sister/charge nurse in gynaecology. This is a clinical and leadership role supporting safe, compassionat...

  • Clinical leadership -- Act as a visible, supportive senior nurse, leading shifts, coordinating patientflow, and ensuring safe staffing across all areas.
  • Specialist gynaecology care -- Deliver and oversee evidence-based care for patients with acute and chronic gynaecological conditions, early pregnancy complications, and postoperative needs.
  • EPAU expertise -- Support early pregnancy assessment, including triage, sensitive communication, and management of urgent presentations.
  • Outpatient support -- Contribute to smooth clinic operations, patient education, and continuity of care across the outpatient pathway. Incorporating hands on clinical working in colposcopy andhysteroscopy.
  • Team supervision -- Mentor junior staff, support induction, and contribute to ongoing professional development within the team.
  • Quality & safety -- Participate in audits, incident reviews, and service improvement initiatives toenhance patient experience and clinical outcomes.
  • Patient-centred communication -- Provide compassionate, sensitive support to patients and families,particularly during emotionally challenging situations such as pregnancy loss.
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration -- Work closely with medical, sonography, and allied health teams to ensure seamless, coordinated care.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register
  • Post registration qualification relevant to the clinical area
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and maintenance of a personal professional file

Desirable

  • A1 Vocational Assessor's Qualification or equivalent e.g. D32 / D33

Skills

Essential

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills

Desirable

  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit/patient review

Attitude, aptitude

Essential
