The Deputy Service Manager supports the Service Manager in leading the daily operations of a 24 hour NHS-funded Mental Health Recovery House, ensuring...
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the Recovery House, including staffing, admissions, occupancy, shift coordination, and service delivery.
- Deliver high-quality support through assessments, interventions, personalised support plans, and recovery-focused activities.
- Recruit, induct, supervise, coach, and develop staff and volunteers, managing performance, attendance, and team effectiveness.
- Work with NHS teams, Social Care, Housing, Police, Ambulance Services, Local Authorities, and voluntary organisations to coordinate referrals, admissions, reviews, and discharges.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, CQC standards, NHS contractual requirements, GDPR, Health & Safety legislation, and QAF standards.
- Oversee audits, incidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns, action plans, and service improvements.
- Monitor and report performance data to improve quality and achieve NHS targets.
- Manage budgets, staffing costs, agency usage, and financial controls to ensure value for money.
- Promote workforce development through supervision, coaching, reflective practice, and training.
- Ensure accurate use of clinical and operational systems, maintaining confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
- Promote health and safety, risk management, infection prevention, fire safety, lone working, and business continuity.
- Participate in the on-call rota.
The Deputy Service Manager supports the Service Manager in the operational management of the Recovery House, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and recovery-focused support. The role includes supervising staff, coordinating service delivery, maintaining quality and governance standards, managing performance and resources, and working closely with partner agencies to support positive outcomes for people experiencing mental health crisis.

Crowlin Recovery House is a pioneering NHS-funded Mental
Health Recovery House providing a 24-hour, short-term, non-clinical residential
alternative to hospital admission for adults experiencing a mental health
crisis.
The service offers a safe, therapeutic and trauma-informed
environment where individuals can stabilise, recover and safely return home
through personalised recovery planning and partnership working with the Crisis
Resolution Home Treatment Teams (CRHTTs). The Recovery House operates 24 hours
a day, 365 days a year and provides accommodation for up to ten guests.

Experience
Essential
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, safeguarding adults, managing incidents, quality assurance, and partnership working.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, organisational, decision-making, IT, report writing, and problem-solving skills.
- Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Recovery Model, Trauma-Informed Care, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding, risk management, and quality assurance.
Desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience working within NHS-commissioned mental health or crisis services.
- Knowledge of MHSDS, and electronic care management systems.
Qualifications
Essential
- Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (minimum) and ideally a Level 5 Leadership qualification (or working towards).
Desirable
- PMVA Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression or equivalent conflict management training.
