We are looking for an experienced and motivated Data Manager to join the Acute Child Health Directorate and play a key role in supporting high-quality clinical services through accurate, reliable and meaningful information. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with clinicians, managers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure that data supports service delivery, improvement and decision-making across the Directorate. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all clinical data sources, data collection, data entry and information transfer processes within the Directorate meet the highest standards of accuracy, integrity and reliability. They will oversee the creation, maintenance and validation of data held within the Directorate, ensuring that all information is presented in high-quality, professional formats for internal and external stakeholders. You will lead on the management, validation and reporting of key clinical and operational datasets, produce clear dashboards and reports, and help identify opportunities to improve data quality, systems and processes. Working collaboratively with clinical, administrative, digital and information teams, you will ensure data remains robust, timely and fit for purpose, supporting governance, audit, service planning and continuous improvement. Special Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of local systems such as BIS, Outreach Dashboards and UHB digital systems.
  • Understanding of dashboards, analytics tools and reporting methodologies (e.g., Power BI).

Desirable

  • Knowledge & first-hand experience of design & maintenance of complex database systems.
  • Advanced data and statistical analysis.

Skills & Attributes

Essential

  • Ability to manage multiple datasets simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience in Microsoft365 PowerApps, PowerAutomate and PowerBI.

Desirable

  • Experience of PMS, Oracle, Clinical Workstation, Clinical Portal.
  • Organisation, coordination of tasks within a larger project.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject (e.g., Information Management, Health Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data/Business Analysis).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in information management, digital skills or data analysis.

Desirable

  • Recognised IT qualification e.g. ECDL.
  • Training or qualification in project or quality improvement methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, ILM, ILS, QI methodology).

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant experience in a data collection/ analysis environment.
  • Experience working in a data management, health informatics or analytical role within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience producing high quality dashboards, reports and visualisations for clinical and managerial audiences.
  • Experience working with Power BI, SQL, advanced Excel, or automation tools.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of principles of general management.
  • Knowledge of national paediatric datasets, audits or service standards.
  • Experience supporting MDTs, clinical teams or service managers with timely and accurate data.
  • Experience within paediatric or acute hospital services.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting digital improvement projects.
