The service currently incorporates 26 beds in a refurbished unit in the Clarendon Wing which is adjacent to the cardiac and neurosurgery theatres and the new hybrid lab at the heart of the Leeds Childrens Hospital. There is a 6 bedded cardiac Level 2 facility located on the cardiology ward and there are two long term ventilation beds on the respiratory ward.

This post is a 10 PA appointment for a Paediatric Critical Care Consultant, with a special interest in Cardiac Intensive Care. The post involves a 10 PA job plan on the Paediatric Critical Care Unit which includes first (PICU Lead), second (PICU Support) and third (Level 2) on shifts as well as a 1: 9 on call rota.

Applicants should have established skills in paediatric intensive care medicine and its related specialties including completion of a cardiac fellowship or be able to demonstrate cardiac experience, including ECMO, above the minimum required for National GRID training in Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine. Strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.

The successful applicant should possess Membership Examination of the Royal College of Physicians or Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health or Royal College of Anaesthetists (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
