We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Consultant colleague to the department of Ophthalmology which sits within the Digestive diseases and Surgery...

This post covers all aspects of a Consultant's professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, service development, education and managerial responsibilities.

The successful candidate should have the ability to offer expert clinical opinion and management on a wide range of problems, both emergency and elective, within the subspecialty and general ophthalmology, at a consultant level. A commitment to the Trust's clinical governance and risk strategy is mandatory.

The successful applicant is expected to:Provide expert medical and surgical management of patients with corneal and external eye conditions, such as keratoconus, corneal dystrophies, microbial keratitis, ocular surface inflammation, dry eye disease, etc. The successful candidate will have continuing responsibility for patients under their care and be able to autonomously manage corneal patients presenting within the service.

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of completing an approved period of training/subspecialist clinical experience in Cornea and Anterior Segment

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBChB or equivalent / MRCP or FRCS of equivalent to specialty (UK) or equivalent / Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK) or equivalent / CCT or within 6 months of AAC date / On Specialist Register with GMC and continue to hold a licence to practice
