The post holder will be required to work in partnership at both strategic and operational levels with relevant and external stakeholders. The post holder will need to ensure that people who use services, carers and advocates are treated with respect and dignity
Provide excellent clinical leadership and actively develop your team along with expert advice to our hospital and community specialists, managers and directors on what is needed to deliver excellent care and future strategic directions.
The Consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of patients and for the proper functioning of the department. The consultant will liaise with the General Practitioners, hospital and community specialists and other agencies wherever relevant.

Qualifications
Essential
- Qualifications:
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRC Psych or equivalent
- Eligibility:
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register or equivalent within 6 months of the interview date (CCT/Portfolio pathway) Subspecialty Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
Desirable
- Qualifications:
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
- Additional clinical qualifications
- Eligibility:
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Experience
Essential
- Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Clinical expertise in specialty / sub specialty
- Excellence clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Academic skills & Lifelong Learning:
- Participated in continuous professional development
- Participated in research or service evaluation
- Able to use and appraise clinical evidence
- Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes
- Contractual requirements:
- Able to undertake on call duties
- Able to undertake work in the community and travel to LPT sites
Desirable
- Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Wide range of specialist and sub specialist experience within NHS or comparable service
- Academic skills & Lifelong Learning:
- Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations, publications
