An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Community Learning Disability Nurse within our East Surrey Community Team for People with Learning Dis...
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care needs of people with learning disabilities who use our services, taking the role of lead clinician for a person with learning disabilities as appropriate.
o To mentor, supervise and teach qualified and unqualified staff including student.
To participate in the recruitment, deployment and management of staff.
To demonstrate expertise and specialist nursing skills in areas associated with learning disability such as crisis intervention, alternative communication, the assessment and management of people with additional mental health needs, epilepsy, medication management, challenging behaviour and other conditions.

Skills
Essential: - Valid UK Driving license and access to a car for work purposes
Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable experience of working with people with learning disabilities, autism and or a mental health diagnosis (can be pre-qualification)
- Experience of Multidisciplinary working
- Experience of carrying out comprehensive nursing assessments and interventions
Desirable
- Evidence of interest / skill in a specialist area
- Knowledge of the current issues, including relevant legislation and practice, concerning people with learning disabilities.
- Experience of participating in clinical practice, service development and project work
- Experience of supervising junior / unqualified staff including students.
- Experience of developing / delivering specialist teaching / training packages.
Qualifications
Essential: - Learning Disability Nursing degree; - Nursing practice supervisor and practice assessor qualification
