As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will work closely with nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Preparing and assisting in outpatient clinics
  • Assisting with setting up minor procedure rooms
  • Assisting in dressing clinics
  • Collecting information from patients for clinics
  • Undertaking enhanced clinical tasks such as:
  • Specimen collection
  • Wound care and simple dressings
  • Supporting and guiding junior staff and new starters

This role can be physically and emotionally demanding, requiring resilience and a caring approach when supporting patients with trauma-related injuries.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Preparing and assisting in outpatient clinics

  • Collecting information from patients for clinics
  • Undertaking enhanced clinical tasks such as:

  • Wound care and simple dressings

Key Skills

Essential

  • Ability to communicate clearly in English in writing, via IT, verbally and using the telephone

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant
  • Experience of caring for patients in an acute setting
  • Experience of working within a team

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Maths and English skills equivalent to Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health-related subject or equivalent
  • NVQ / QCF Level 3 in a health-related subject or demonstrable equivalent experience supported by completion of a competency-based clinical skills framework

Desirable

  • Completion of Care Certificate
