  • To accept health care referrals, assess need and oversee all health care assessment to support service user's access timely treatment.
  • Provide harm reduction advice, information and support with an emphasis on safer drug use, safer sex, HIV, Hepatitis A, B and C and other blood borne infections
  • Be responsible for maintaining a robust health care case load supporting the health inequalities agenda.
  • To carryout clinical interventions such as urine screening and CIWA-Ar and COWS, vital sign assessment, ECG's including blood pressure, and other physical health checks.
  • To carryout alcohol and drug detoxes supported by the Band 7 Nurse Prescriber.
  • To carry out comprehensive assessments, construct care packages with multi-disciplinary colleagues where required, review care plans in a structured format and manage onward referral.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Nursing Qualification RGN/RMN

Desirable

  • Relevant training / Qualification in substance use or health care for hard-to-reach individuals
  • CBT
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Brief solution focussed therapy
  • Mapping techniques (ITEP/BTEI)

Experience

Essential

  • Considerable experience of working with drug and alcohol
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to promote service user involvement.
