Within hours the post holder will be responsible for actively managing patient demand, dealing with unpredictable events non-clinical and clinical and working closely with the directorate teams including The Integrated Discharge Service. Other responsibilities will involve supporting staff across the site with clinical transfers and liaising with senior medical and nursing management when necessary.
The post holder when working on nights will work in collaboration with healthcare colleagues to provide clinical expertise for developing and enhancing the service and supporting staff across the organisation. They will ensure that evidence-based practice is inherent in all aspects of care and treatment and ensure this knowledge is disseminated throughout the clinical area.
The visible presence of post holders over a 24-hour period 7 days a week will be key in providing high standards of patient safety and care and supporting staff working across the organisation.
1. To communicate effectively with a wide range of people / patients in a manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture and background.2. Develop and maintain communication within the multidisciplinary team internally and externally about complex and/or difficult situations and make complex decisions encouraging the effective participation of all involved.3. To be empathetic and reassuring when communicating highly sensitive information to patients, carers and relatives.4. To maintain comprehensive and accurate records regarding clinical and /or non-clinical assessment, and rationales for decisions made in line with legal and directorate requirements, and communicate responses to appropriate disciplines, directorates and management.

Qualifications
Essential
- Current NMC registration first level nurse essential (consideration for other health care professionals e.g. registered Paramedics who hold relevant skills / experience)
- Teaching and Assessing qualification or equivalent.
- Advanced Clinical Practitioner qualification or evidenced experience
Desirable
- Clinical or Managerial based first degree or equivalent experience.
Experience
Essential
- Evidence of effective people/resource management.
- Effective advanced communication skills for the communication of complex, challenging and highly sensitive information.
- Developed interpersonal, problem solving and conflict management skills.
- Evidence of extensive professional & operational knowledge of working within an acute Trust environment
Desirable
- Experience in Operational management or similar setting
