As a Clinical Research Nurse, you will play a

key role in delivering innovative experimental medicine studies from

participant recruitment through to study completion. You will:

Recruit, screen and enrol volunteers into

clinical research studies.

Support participants throughout their study

journey, providing clear information, guidance and reassurance.

-

Undertake clinical research procedures including

phlebotomy, microbiological sampling and support for specialist procedures.

Monitor participants during outpatient visits

and inpatient study periods, escalating concerns appropriately.

  • Record and manage clinical and research data in

accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), GDPR and research governance

  • Work closely with research nurses, clinicians

laboratory scientists and project managers to ensure smooth and efficient study

delivery.

  • Contribute to the development of study

processes, participant pathways and recruitment strategies.

  • Help deliver internationally recognised human

challenge studies that inform the development of future vaccines and

treatments.

Direct Clinical & Participant Care

Support

smooth study delivery: recruit, screen and enrol participants into clinical

studies within Professor Chius study portfolio.

Act as a

primary point of contact for study participants, providing clear guidance,

support, and reassurance throughout their enrolment.

Take

detailed clinical histories and collect highquality samples following

enrolment including phlebotomy, microbiological sampling from various

participant sites, and assist with surgical/dermatological procedures.

Guide

participants through study procedures, ensuring excellent communication and

participant experience.

Monitor

participants during study visits and inpatient stays, ensuring their wellbeing

and quickly escalating concerns to study physicians.

Identify,

record, and report adverse events promptly to maintain participant safety.

Prepare

for and undertake clinical study visits within the Imperial College Research

Facility (ICRF).

Participant Recruitment & Study Delivery

Recruit,

screen, and enrol volunteers, ensuring all inclusion/exclusion criteria are

met.

Explain

study procedures clearly, ensuring participants feel informed, comfortable, and

valued.

Support

volunteers through every stage of the study journeyfrom first contact to

followup.

Clinical Data & Documentation

Maintain

accurate, timely, and high-quality clinical documentation in medical/research

notes.

Enter

and manage clinical data and case report forms in line with GCP, GDPR, and data

protection standards.

Help

maintain secure storage and backup of participant information in line with

College, Sponsor and NHS policies.

Operational & Team Support

Work

closely with the Senior Research Nurse and Project Manager(s) to ensure smooth

day-to-day running of the research delivery, including development and

refinement of study processes, SOPs and participant-focused pathways.

Contribute

to recruitment progress of participants, including recruitment strategies and

communication with participants.

Collaborate

with the multidisciplinary team within Professor Chius group and provide

support to colleagues when needed.

Work

closely with the laboratory team to ensure high-quality samples are collected

and analysed as part of the study protocols.

Training & Professional Development

Keep

up to date with clinical research standards, respiratory infection knowledge,

and national regulations.

Attend

training, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Maintain

NMC registration and uphold all aspects of the Code of Professional Conduct.

Additional Duties

Carry

out administrative tasks appropriate for a Band 6 role.

Adhere

to College and NHS policies and always maintain patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Adult Nurse (minimum 2 years post experience in relevant area)
  • Examples of relevant area such as Clinical Research, infectious disease, A&E, ICU, infection prevention and control, immunology/respiratory or general medicine.

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of up-to-date professional development.
  • Independently able to collect blood and other samples such as nasal swabs.

Desirable

  • Previous clinical research experience.
  • Experience handling, storing, or processing human/microbiological samples.
  • Experience using electronic databases/eCRFs.
  • Experience in assisting with bronchoscopy procedures.
  • Experience in managing a patient with an infection.
