We are looking for a HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist with relevant experience and training to the deliver specialist 1:1/Group interventions...
The post is based at HMP Norwich. The role will involve working closely with the Mental Health In Reach team providing a specialist assessment and intervention provision , complimenting the current multi-disciplinary team
You will be working with men who may self-harm, have attempted suicide, and/or experience high levels of anxiety or trauma/PTSD. The role includes having an active contribution in reducing self-harm, self destructive and violent behaviour.
Clinical: Provision of specialist psychology assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions for individuals and groups, referred to the service.
Training & Development: Supporting and where appropriate implementing and delivering training to embed psychologically informed practices within the multidisciplinary team, supporting a stepped care model of psychological care.
Staff Wellbeing & Resilience: Promote staff wellbeing by leading reflective supervision and post-incident support enhancing resilience and retention in challenging environments.

The service is currently contracted to NSFT but has gone out for re-tender, so will be managed and delivered by a different provider from the 1st April 2027. The new provider is yet to be confirmed.

Qualifications
Essential
- Post Graduate Degree (or equivalent) in Clinical/Forensic Psychology, accredited by the BPS
- Ongoing Specialist training/accredited short courses
- Registered as a practitioner psychologist with the HCPC
Desirable
- Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
- Theory and practice of specialised psychological interventions
Experience
Essential
- Experience working as a qualified clinical/forensic psychologist and are able to evidence appropriate knowledge/experience in practice
- Experience of working with a variety and severity client groups and clinical problems in various settings, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems
- Experience of working with a range of complex and challenging behaviours and exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological treatment
Desirable
- Experience of representing psychology within MDT settings (clinical and organisational)
- Experience of clinical work in a setting relevant to the post
- Experience of supervision and teaching
Skills
Essential
- Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management
- Well-developed communication skills (oral and written)
- Able to effectively communicate technical and clinically sensitive information to service users, families, carers and other professionals inside and outside of the NHS
- Skills in consultation to professional and non-professional groups
- Skills in training and supervision. Skills in creating and delivering presentations and training programmes
Desirable
- Experience of clinical work in a setting relevant to the post
- oskills in neuropsychological assessment
Knowledge
Essential
- Doctor level knowledge of research design, methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis
- Knowledge of mental health legislation within specialist clinical contex
- Evidence of CPD as recommended by the BPS
Desirable
- Well-developed knowledge of theory and practice of specialised psychological intervention and assessment in specialist clinical service-user groups
Other
Essential
- Able to identify, provide and promote appropriate support strategies to staff exposed to highly distressing situations and challenging behaviours
- Able to use multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings
- Ability to travel independently
Desirable
- Experience of working within a multicultural framework
- Experience of providing specific support and intervention and strategy for staff
