This is a training role which requires the
successful applicant to complete a CPPE course, therefore please ensure you
understand the training requirements. These roles have been designed to be
interesting and fulfilling roles, providing a comprehensive range of
appropriate clinical pharmacy services to general practice in Surrey Heath. The
post holders will undertake resident/patient-facing activities, and associated
medicines management support activities, to ensure effective and efficient use
of medicines within the practices and across their registered populations.
The post holder will be supported to
help develop the role and work to improve the care and outcomes for the
patients across Surrey Heath PCN. To play a pivotal role in the delivery of
high quality primary health care within Surrey Heath

practices across 10 sites, covering a population of over 104,000 patients across
Surrey Heath. We began in 2016 and now employ around 200 members of staff
across our clinical and corporate support teams. Since 2019 we have hosted the Primary Care
Network in Surrey Heath.

Qualifications
Essential
- GCSEs including English and Maths (C and above) or equivalent
- Masters degree in pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent
- Post-graduate clinical diploma level or equivalent training/experience.
- Have completed, be enrolled in, be undertaking or prepared to undertake an approved primary care pharmacy educational pathway (PCPEP), e.g. the CPPE Primary care pharmacy education pathway or Medicines optimisation in care homes training pathway for pharmacy professionals.
Desirable: - Willingness to undertake independent prescribing training.
Experience
Essential
- In depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence based healthcare.
- An appreciation of the nature of GP's and general practices.
- An appreciation of the nature of primary care prescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for improving prescribing.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of motivational interviewing and able to train other staff.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate complex and sensitive information in an understandable form to a variety of audiences.
- Is able to plan, manage, monitor, advise and review general medicine optimisation issues in core areas for long term conditions
- Good IT skills.
- Familiarity with GP systems.
- Able to obtain, analyse and interpret complex technical information, and present reports.
- Recognises priorities when problem solving and identifies deviations from the normal pattern and is able to refer to seniors or GP's when appropriate.
- Demonstrates accountability for delivering professional expertise and direct service provision.
Desirable: - Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
Professional Registration
Essential: - Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council.; - A member of or working towards Faculty membership; - of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
