The aim of this newly created team is to improve and enhance the services for children and families needing social care support, equipment, home adaptations across Newcastle. The service will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient focused support within the legislative frameworks of the Care act, Children and families act 2014, Children's act 1989 and the Chronically Sick and Disabled Person's act 1970.

  • The post holder will carry overall responsibility for the operational management of the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Adaptations Service providing operational line management and leadership of staff across these services.
  • To ensure the effective and timely delivery of evidence based high quality integrated service across the Trust, pathways and partners
  • To manage the service budget ensuring resources are deployed effectively and financial targets are met.
  • To provide expert advice, support and creative problem solving to team members dealing with clients with complex needs
  • The post holder, supported by the Deputy Head of service will be responsible for the service meeting its contractual requirements including Key Performance Indicators.

Qualifications & Education

Essential: - Profession specific degree or equivalent diploma with evidence of recent CPD; - State registration with the Health and Care Professions Council

Desirable: - Management qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Recent relevant experience preferably within the LA in a leadership/managerial role
  • Knowledge and application of clinical theory, best practice and procedures in the specialty field
  • Have knowledge of the implementation of health and safety and risk awareness in the service

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Have IT, presentation and training skills, including experience of using desktop applications and databases
  • Have the ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance to maintain own continued professional development (CPD) participating in internal and external development opportunities, recording learning outcomes
