The Nurse Specialist will provide support for the patient and family requiring a PEG through treatment and throughout the care journey. Using advanced communication and psychological assessment skills the CNS will aim to assess and alleviate the psychological distress for PEG patients and their families, including identification of need for onward referral to other agencies and disciplines as appropriate

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse
  • First level degree or equivalent

Desirable

  • Post-basic qualification in gastrointestinal disease related subject
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Advanced Communication skills training
  • Experience in PEG

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrable Experience within Speciality
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • IT Literate

Desirable

  • Previous CNS Experience
