  • Manages a team of technicians/engineers providing expertise in one or more technologies, work processes and clinical disciplines.
  • Manages and leads in the selection and recruitment of new staff.
  • Performs Individual Performance Reviews on members of their team or delegates this task as appropriate.
  • Manages and leads on disciplinary and performance issues in relation to members of their team.
  • Authorises leave ensuring minimum staffing levels and operation effectiveness are maintained during core hours.
  • Manages and monitors sickness and absence of members of their team.
  • Plans work of members of their team, as required.
  • Proactively manages prioritisation and allocation of incoming work to ensure that staff resources are effectively employed, and customer needs are fulfilled. And ensures completion in compliance with the Quality System.
  • Responsible for agreeing staffing cover in the event of sickness, annual leave or absence from the department, deputising for other Team Leaders and occasionally for Clinical Engineering Management.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Proven competence in senior technical role associated with the use, management and development of engineering technologies
  • Proven Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Standard for Quality Management Systems
  • Extensive practical demonstrable experience in electro-mechanical engineering workshop practices and techniques
  • Demonstrable experience in team management
  • Knowledge of MHRA Managing Medical Devices - April 2015

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant level 6 degree or equivalent level of knowledge and demonstrable experience
  • Postgraduate qualification at level 7 in relevant subject or demonstrable equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Membership of a relevant professional body
  • Registration on a register for Clinical Technologists or with Engineering Council

Aptitudes and abilities

Essential

  • Proven ability to influence, inspire and champion people and issues.
  • Comprehensive leadership skills
  • Able to deal with complex and unpredictable situations
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels
