The successful candidate will support the practice with its clinical administrative workload, including:
- Reviewing and actioning pathology and radiology results
- Processing clinical correspondence and Docman documents
- Taking any necessary clinical actions arising from results or correspondence
- Reviewing and issuing electronic prescriptions through EPS
- Completing appropriate medication and clinical reviews
- Communicating with patients where clinical follow-up is required
- Arranging referrals, investigations and follow-up in accordance with practice protocols
- Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records
- Escalating urgent or complex clinical matters appropriately
Applicants must be confident working independently and safely within an established clinical governance framework. Previous experience using EMIS Web and Docman is essential.
The Clinical Admin GP will be responsible for:
- Processing laboratory and diagnostic results safely and within agreed timescales
- Reviewing incoming clinical correspondence and completing all necessary actions
- Issuing and reviewing prescriptions in accordance with practice prescribing protocols
- Identifying results or correspondence requiring urgent clinical intervention
- Contacting patients or delegating follow-up actions where appropriate
- Coding relevant information accurately within the patient record
- Making referrals and arranging investigations when clinically indicated
- Providing clear advice and instructions to the wider practice team
- Working in accordance with GMC guidance, practice policies and relevant clinical governance requirements
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and information governance standards
- Participating in appropriate clinical review, audit or feedback arrangements
Pendleton Medical Centre is a progressive and fast growing GP practice based in Salford, with approximately 9,500 registered patients.
We have a broad multidisciplinary team comprising GPs, Advanced Practitioners, practice nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists and an experienced administrative and reception team.
We are committed to providing accessible, high-quality patient care and making effective use of our wider clinical team. The successful candidate will receive support from the practices clinical and management teams and will work within established systems and protocols.
Although this is predominantly a remote clinical administration role, the postholder will remain an integrated member of the practice team.
Qualifications
Essential
- Qualified General Practitioner
- MRCGP, Certificate of Completion of Training or equivalent recognised qualification
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Experience
Essential
- Recent experience working in UK general practice
- Experience of reviewing pathology and radiology results
- Experience of processing clinical correspondence
- Experience of prescribing and medication review
- Competence using EMIS Web and Docman
- Ability to work safely and independently in a remote setting
Desirable
- Sound clinical judgement
- Strong attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritise clinical risk and workload
