Make a lasting difference in Leicester
You must be living and practicing in the UK presently to apply for this role.
Leicester is one of the UK's most diverse and vibrant cities, and with that comes the opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of children and families.
We're looking for passionate and committed Social Workers to join our Children in Need Team. This is your chance to be part of a service that focuses on meaningful relationship-based practice, manageable change, and achieving the best possible outcomes for children.
At Leicester, we believe children and families deserve support that creates lasting change, not long-term dependency. That's why we've invested in developing strong practice frameworks, robust support systems, and a culture where social workers can focus on what matters most.
As a Social Worker in our Children in Need Team, you'll work with children and families subject to:
- Child in Need plans
- Child Protection plans
- Public Law Outline (PLO) processes
- Care proceedings
You'll undertake assessments, build strong relationships with children and families, coordinate multi-agency support, and lead plans that help children remain safe, thrive, and achieve positive outcomes.
Using the Signs of Safety approach, you'll complete purposeful direct work, chair and attend professional meetings, make informed decisions, and ensure children's voices remain at the heart of everything you do.
- Have 2 – 3 years qualified experience for a Level 2 or Level 3 role
- Be a qualified Social Worker holding a CQSW, DipSW, Social Work Degree or equivalent recognised qualification
- Be registered with Social Work England
- Be Passionate about promoting positive outcomes for children and families
- Be skilled in assessment, planning and relationship-based practice
We may be able to offer sponsorship for candidates already living and practicing social work in the UK.
We know great social work happens when practitioners feel valued, supported and empowered.
You'll benefit from
Outstanding learning and development
- Extensive training opportunities throughout your career
- Support with career progression and professional development
- Opportunities to specialise and progress into advanced practice and management roles
A supportive team culture
- Regular reflective supervision
- Experienced managers who are available when you need them
- A collaborative environment where wellbeing matters
Flexible and hybrid working
- Hybrid working model with office-based working at Halford House approximately two days per week
- Flexible working arrangements available
- Option for full-time employees to work a 9-day fortnight
Wellbeing support
- A commitment to supporting staff wellbeing
- A focus on maintaining manageable caseloads wherever possible
- Access to a wide range of employee support services
Working hours
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week.
Typical working hours are
