Job description
Are you a dynamic, enthusiastic and confident paediatric dietitian with an interest in diabetes care? We are looking for a Children's Diabetes Dietiti...
- Provide specialist dietetic education and support for children and young people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes from diagnosis through to transition to adult services.
- Support children, young people, families, carers and school staff to develop confidence in diabetes self-management.
- Provide education and advice on diabetes technology, including insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring and hybrid closed loop systems where appropriate.
- Contribute to service development, audit, research, quality improvement and national programmes including the National Paediatric Diabetes Audit.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to meet Paediatric Diabetes Best Practice Tariff criteria and deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential
- Four-year degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
- HCPC registered
Desirable
- Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) or equivalent association
- Post registration training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy/Motivational Interviewing
- Post graduate study in specialist area of dietetics e.g. paediatric diabetes modules e.g. MSc Paediatric Diabetes modules
Experience
Essential
- Post registration clinical experience
- This must include experience in the specialist area of dietetics
Desirable
- Involvement in relevant specialist interest group

- Experience of service development

- Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Experience of training student Dietitians/other HCPs

- To manage the physical effort of working between hospital sites, frequently moving up and down stairs, standing for long periods of time and carrying heavy folders.
- To manage working in unpleasant conditions such as environments where there may be unpleasant sights, noises, smells and temperature fluctuations e.g. hospital clinics.
