Arrhythmia Clinical Nurse Specialist An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced cardiac nurse to join our Cardiology Specialist Nursing tea...
A key component of this position is participation in our established nurse-led DCCV service. The successful applicant will receive structured training, supervised clinical experience and competency-based assessment to develop the skills required to independently perform elective cardioversion, including procedural sedation, in accordance with Trust policies and clinical governance arrangements.
Beyond cardioversion, you will have an active role across our wider arrhythmia and electrophysiology pathways, including pre-assessment of patients undergoing catheter ablation, counselling and preparation of patients for implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implantation, and supporting patients throughout their treatment journey.
Working closely with our cardiologists, electrophysiologists and wider multidisciplinary team, you will develop specialist clinical assessment and decision-making skills, contributing to the autonomous management of patients within established nurse-led pathways.
You will also have opportunities to take a leadership role in clinical audit, quality improvement, education and service development, helping to shape clinical pathways, strengthen nursing practice and improve patient outcomes.
The post holder will practise autonomously as a Cardiac Nurse Specialist, providing expert clinical care and professional leadership in the assessment and management of patients with cardiac conditions, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and evidence-based care.
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning, coordination and delivery of designated cardiology services, ensuring high standards of patient care and effective service provision.
The post holder will lead and contribute to clinical audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives within their designated areas, promoting best practice and supporting the development, implementation and review of clinical guidelines, policies and pathways.
The post holder will be professionally accountable for their clinical decisions and nursing practice, maintaining and developing their knowledge, skills and competencies through continuing professional development. They will practise in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code, relevant professional standards, and Trust policies and procedures.
